Inspiring Ocean Stewards: A Day of Marine Education

Earlier this season, Luna Beach had the honor of hosting “Inspiring Ocean Stewards in Honduras”, a full-day conservation event led by Under the Pole with partners including MarAlliance, Roatan Marine Park, and BICA Honduras.
More than 200 students participated from across the island, including designated Blue Schools in Punta Gorda and Coxen Hole. A Blue School is one that integrates ocean literacy and marine science into its curriculum—empowering students to explore conservation topics like coral reefs, mangroves, and marine species through hands-on activities and field learning.
At Luna Beach, students learned about shark biology, explored scientific diving equipment, and joined interactive workshops on marine ecosystems. The event was also attended by key national leaders including the French Ambassador to Honduras and the Honduran Ministers of Education and Tourism, underscoring the importance of environmental education on Roatán.
Field Trip Fun for Roatan’s Next Generation
Shortly afterwards, Luna Beach welcomed the 7th grade graduating class from Bay Islands International School for a day of celebration. Students splashed in the sea, rode horseback on the sand, and made unforgettable memories under the Caribbean sun.
